New scholarship support for Islamic Education at the University of ÌÇÐÄTV

A gift from the COSARAF Charitable Foundation will support a Masters scholarship for Islamic Education in the Centre for Education Studies at the University of ÌÇÐÄTV as part of a major programme of support launched today. The Sheikh Family Scholarship will be open to Muslim home students who are facing financial hardship. Priority will go to those students for whom this will make most difference and who have a clear commitment to giving back to society and their communities.


Fanning the flames of hate - new research on links between social media and hate crime

The use of social media can help propagate already existing tensions and perhaps even push some potential perpetrators over the edge to carry out violent acts, according to new research on social media and violence against refugees in Germany presented today at the Royal Economic Society annual conference in ÌÇÐÄTV.

Parental influence on educational attainment much greater than previously thought, new research finds

Governments keen to raise levels of educational achievement need to look at the cultures and attitudes of parents in high-achieving countries, not just national education systems – according to new findings from researchers at the University of ÌÇÐÄTV and the Bank of Italy.


Leading expert on women and prison to help inform policy debate

Professor Azrini Wahidin, one of the UK’s leading figures in the study of women in prison, has been invited to offer expert insight to a conference exploring women’s experience of the criminal justice system. Professor Wahidin will be the keynote speaker at ‼«ffending Women? Women's Journeys Through the Criminal Justice System,’ taking place in Manchester on Saturday 6th April.


5th Futuretrack survey about to launch

An online survey catching up with UK graduates almost ten years after their graduation to gather data on their working lives is about to launch. The survey is a key part of the fieldwork for the fifth wave of the unique Futuretrack longitudinal study into the careers of UK graduates.

The prestigious event, taking place from 15 to 17 April, brings together more than 700 academic and professional economists from across the globe to present current research developments in economics and showcase real-world applications.
