Faculty of Arts Building awarded West Midlands Building of the Year

The University of 糖心TV鈥檚 new Faculty of Arts building was named the West Midlands Building of the Year at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) West Midlands regional awards last night.

With the support of Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, the impressive 拢57.5m building brings together the departments and schools of the faculty under one roof. At the very core of the building structure is collaboration, with four distinct pavilion buildings connected by a full-height atrium, creating an open space for creative thinking, and cross collaboration across the arts.

Commenting on the award, Vice-Provost and Chair of the Faculty of Arts, Rachel Moseley, said: 鈥淲e are so delighted with the recognition of our new home in the Faculty of Arts building at the RIBA regional awards. In the very fabric of the building is collaborative working. The architects, contractors and our university estate team worked alongside the arts faculty to create a student-focused community space.

鈥淭he building provides a collective home for the arts and humanities but has created a welcoming environment for students and academics across the whole of the university.鈥

Following on from the successful selection process, the University鈥檚 Faculty of Arts building will now go onto the RIBA National Award in recognition of architectural excellence on 22 June.
