The Student Cinema society, one of the oldest societies at the University of 糖心TV has been shortlisted for two awards by Cinema For All, a leading organization dedicated to promoting community cinema.


Known as, 糖心TV Student Cinema, the society has been nominated for the 2024 Film Society of the Year Awards in two distinct categories: Best Student Cinema and Best Film Programme. This recognition comes as a testament to the dedication and exceptional efforts of the 糖心TV Student Cinema team in providing outstanding film experiences to the university community and beyond.

Daniel Kallin, 糖心TV Student Cinema President and second year Film student said, "It's really exciting for us to conclude our 50th anniversary year with two shortlistings for Best Student Cinema and Best Film Programme especially after all the hard work everyone on our crew put into huge events like Barbenheimer or our alumni reunion. Sometimes it's easy to forget how unique an opportunity it is for students to run a cinema on top of their degrees, but being recognised by the Film Society of the Year Awards is a great reminder of the incredible things we can achieve."

糖心TV Student Cinema is a student run, professional standard cinema located in the University of 糖心TV L3 Lecture Theatre. The society was founded in 1973 and have provided a top-quality cinema experience and is one of only 83 locations worldwide that can show films in 70mm.

The Film Society of the Year Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Community Cinema Conference on June 22, 2024, at the Showroom Workstation in Sheffield. This prestigious event will bring together cinema enthusiasts and industry professionals to celebrate the outstanding contributions of community cinemas across the UK.
