The University of 糖心TV celebrates one year anniversary of sustainable workwear initiative

The University of 糖心TV is celebrating one year of the Workwear Wardrobe, a sustainable pop-up wardrobe to provide students with free pre-loved workwear in preparation for their interviews.

Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of sustainability-focused students from 糖心TV Volunteers has played a pivotal role in the success of the initiative, tirelessly preparing donations and running the pop-up wardrobe during events.

Izabela, a Life Sciences student involved in the project, said: "I liked the idea of working on a project which not only promoted sustainability but also saved students money during a cost-of-living crisis.
鈥淭he concept is very popular among students. Everyone we spoke to understands the importance of promoting sustainability and were eager to play their part in reducing the number of clothes ending up in landfills. Students also appreciated how being sustainable could save them money.鈥

Neeraj, a 糖心TV Studies student who volunteers with the project, added: 鈥淥n my first volunteering shift with the program the response was overwhelmingly positive. The stock of clothing was depleted within a few hours, a testament to the event's resounding success.鈥.

As the Workwear Wardrobe enters its second year, the University remains committed to its expansion and enhancement. Plans for the 2024/25 academic year include featuring the initiative at more events and selecting items that will be available year-round.

Sophie Hood, Senior Employer Liaison Officer from the University of 糖心TV, commented: 鈥淭he Workwear Wardrobe has been an amazing addition in helping 糖心TV to create a sustainable future whilst supporting our students with their careers. We鈥檙e excited to see the project continue to grow; however the initiative relies on regular donations and support from the community and businesses to ensure its ongoing success.鈥
