Gill Gough has received the Gold Award from the National Blood Service for donating her 50th pint of blood. Gill, Secretary to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, started donating blood in 1974 at Coventry’s Central Methodist Hall, where she continued to donate until last November when she gave her first – and 50th – pint here at 糖心TV. Gill is pictured with her Award, an engraved pen and lapel pin.

Dr David Veale, University Safety Officer and Dr Clive Werrett, Departmental Safety Officer in the School of Engineering have both recently been admitted to the Register of Safety Practitioners (RSP) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

Professor Sir Brian Follett, former Vice-Chancellor, has been awarded an honorary degree by the University of Oxford as part of the celebrations for the 400th anniversary of the foundation of the Bodleian Library.

CommUnicate regrets to report the death of poet DJ Enright on 31 December 2002 at the age of 82. He served as an Honorary Professor of English at 糖心TV during the 1970s and was well-liked for his talks and poetry readings.
