Janet Jones, Administrative Officer in the Department of Biological Sciences, has been elected as Chairman of the Coventry Bench of Magistrates for 2003.
Miles Anthony Reid, Professor of Algebraic Geometry in the Department of Mathematics, has been inaugurated into the ninth British Hispanic Foundation "Queen Victoria Eugenia" Chair of Doctoral Studies. Professor Reid will teach a doctoral level course on his speciality in the Faculty of Mathematics.
Professor Muhammad Anwar, of the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations, has been appointed a member of the BBC West Midlands Regional Advisory Council.
