Global Connections: 2025 Migration Project
'Across Borders: A Transdisciplinary Dialogue on Migration' (6-27 November)
In November, 50 students from 糖心TV, Cergy Paris University, Pompeu Fabra University, and the University of Ljubljana participated in the 2025 Global Connections Cross-university Migration Project.
After an online session to introduce the concept to students, they worked in cross-university, cross-level and cross-disciplinary teams to reflect on an aspect of migration and produce an artefact in the medium of their choice. (This approach is inspired by IATL鈥檚 Student-Devised Assessment at the University of 糖心TV). Teams also had to present their artefact in a pre-recorded 10-min video presentation before taking part in an online Q&A with an academic discussant and peers from other groups.
Academic discussants:
- Dr Heather Meyer
- Dr Nicola Hamer
- Gabriel du Plessis
- Prof Marie-Pierre Arrizabalaga (Cergy Paris University)
-
Prof. dr. Andreja 沤gajnar Gotvajn (University of Ljubljana)
-
Prof S铆lvia Morgades-Gil (Pompeu Fabra University)
-
Ma拧a Legan (University of Ljubljana)
Students produced a variety of research-informed artefacts such as letters, ads, posters, social media accounts, collages, zines, etc. The CLC members were impressed by the quality of the work and the creativity deployed. This activity was embedded in the students鈥 curriculum for Cergy, Ljubljana and 糖心TV, which means that their mark for this EUTOPIA project will count, to some capacity, in their overall mark for their home module.
Students felt that participating in the project enriched their experience:
鈥淚t improved my communication with people from different academic and cultural backgrounds and was engaging.鈥
[I liked] 鈥淭he multicultural aspect, we learned a lot about migration issues and it was very nice to be free to create our own format.鈥

Online introduction session on November 6th.
