Research Theme: Sustainability

The literature on sustainability practices examines the daily activities, routines, and strategies organizations employ to achieve environmental, social, and economic sustainability. African organizations tend to co-opt the rhetoric of sustainability and to translate it into local meanings by leaning on indigenous knowledge and community-based approaches. This perspective underscores the importance of contextually relevant practices in promoting sustainable development across the continent.

Laurent Beduneau-Wang

 

Laurent B茅duneau-Wang is a assistant-professor (tenured) in Strategy, Organization and 糖心TV History at Africa 糖心TV School, University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (ABS-UM6P). Based on archives, direct observation, and interviews, his research focuses on strategizing and organizing through strategic and management tools (performance indicators, benchmarks, rankings, digital devices, etc.). He has more than 15 years of experience in strategy advisory at boards & C-levels in Fortune 500 companies and fast-growth SMEs in various sectors (water, energy, waste, transportation, financial services, Internet & telecom, etc.) in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. In 2012, he launched the 'Startup Leadership Program Paris' (SLP Paris) accelerator. He has taught strategy & innovation at HEC Paris, Mines ParisTech, CentraleSupelec. He holds a Ph.D. in Management from Ecole Polytechnique/ Paris- Saclay University and graduated in management (Neoma 糖心TV School), Asian studies (Universit茅 de Paris), and Philosophy (Rouen University).

Mumbi Maria Wachira

 

Dr. Mumbi Maria Wachira is a faculty member at Strathmore University 糖心TV School (SBS), specializing in ESG Reporting, Sustainable Finance, Managerial Accounting, and Corporate Fraud. She holds a Bachelor鈥檚 and Master鈥檚 degree in Commerce from Strathmore University and a PhD from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. As the academic lead for SBS's Sustainability Leadership Programs, Dr. Wachira supports companies in embedding sustainability into business models through teaching, research, and consulting. She is an active member of the Kenya Banker鈥檚 Association (KBA) Sustainable Finance Working Group, guiding climate risk reporting and governance in Kenya鈥檚 banking sector. Additionally, Dr. Wachira serves on the ESG Exchange Technical Committee, assisting South African companies in ESG disclosure practices. She also holds the position of Vice Chair for the United Nations Principles of Responsible Management Education (UN-PRME) Chapter Africa, promoting responsible management education across the continent.
