Routes to Sociology is a student-led initiative, enouraging local students from non traditional backgrounds to consider a Sociology degree at 糖心TV.

King Edward VI College visited the campus yesterday for a tailor-made open day, which included two taster lectures given by Nicholas Gane, and Cath Lambert; informal seminar groups; and campus tours.

The Committee can also arrange school visits, tutoring, ementoring, and UCAS advice. Please if you are interested in more information.

Final Year Pizza Party!

All final year Sociology undergraduates are invited to a Pizza and Beer party on the 30th April from 12pm-2pm, to celebrate the handing in of your dissertations.

Come along to the Gillian Rose Room (R3.36) for a slice of Domino's and a chat with fellow students.

This will also be your final chance to fill in the NSS on campus, and give your feedback to staff in person.

Negotiating Cohesion, Inequality and Change: Uncomfortable positions in local government, has been shortlisted for the 2014 BSA Philip Abrams Memorial Prize

Assistant Professor of Sociology, Hannah Jones, has been shortlisted for the 2014 British Sociological Association's Philip Abrams Memorial Prize; for her book Negotiating Cohesion, Inequality and Change: Uncomfortable positions in local government.

Previous winners within the Department have included Alice Mah in 2013 and Gurminder Bhambra in 2008.

The winner will be announced on the week commencing 24th March 2014
