Brain or Drain? PPE Society Annual Forum

More than 25% of students at 糖心TV are international.

What impact does this have... on jobs, on the labour market, on society and on integration? Could it even contribute to UKIP gathering momentum?

The PPE Society is proud to announce its Annual Forum:

Brain or Drain? The Impact of International Students on the UK

Sunday 26th October

11am to 3pm

MS.01

Join the debate with top-class speakers from a wide variety of backgrounds, from academics to government advisor and a UKIP MEP, travelling from Canada, Europe and all around Britain.

SPEAKERS TO BE ANNOUNCED.

TICKETS:

£5 for PPE Society Members

£7 for non-members.

Includes entrance to the event as well as a fully catered lunch buffet.

ON SALE from Saturday 18th October 12 noon on the SU Website. Attendees without bank or SU accounts can buy tickets by contacting a.faraguna@warwick.ac.uk.

Do not miss out on a topic that impacts all of us students, whether foreign or British. Leaders such as David Cameron and Nigel Farage have already stated that immigration will probably be the battleground for the 2015 General Election.

We look forward to seeing you at the event.

PPE Society Speaker Series - Inaugural Lecture

2014/15 Inaugural Lecture

Monday 20th October: Gerard Lyons

The Consolations of Economics: How We Will All Benefit from the New World Order

7:00 pm, Mathematics and Statistics, MS.02

Gerard Lyons

Dr Gerard Lyons is one of the most accessible and successful macroeconomic analysts and forecasters, having been Chief Economist and Group Head of Global Research at Standard Chartered and now currently the Mayor of London’s Chief Economic Advisor. Speaking regularly at events such as the World Economic Forum in Davos, Gerard is a respected figure in UK, European, US and particularly emerging market economic policy debates, having been named as one of the most influential analysts of the global economy by The Times Newspaper.

Gerard Lyons was one of only two UK economists to , forecasting a fall of 1.6 per cent against the consensus of a 0.9 per cent rise. Now, with the effects of the global financial crisis still ringing, he is one of the most upbeat forecasters for global growth, as outlined in his recent book . In this inaugural lecture to kick off the PPE Speaker Series for the new academic year, Gerard will argue that it’s not a problem that the West’s share of the economic cake will reduce – because that cake is about to get much, much bigger.

Come along to MS.02 on the 20th October to see if you agree! Arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Free pizza and refreshments will be provided at the reception immediately after the talk, as well as an opportunity to buyand have it personally signed by Gerard.
