糖心TV

Overview

MAP 糖心TV is your local chapter of an international student-led network dedicated to addressing structural injustices in academic philosophy and removing barriers that impede participation in academic philosophy for members of marginalised groups.

MAP aims to raise awareness, provide support, and foster the understanding and philosophical assessment of MAP-related themes (equality, diversity, and inclusion) through a variety of events and activities.

Reading group "Porn and Feminism"

Where and when: every second Tuesday, 4-5 pm (weeks 2, 4, 7, 8, 10); room S2.85 (in the Economics department very close to the Philosophy department). We will, accordingly, start on Tuesday, 14. January!

Porn websites rank among the most visited websites globally with billions of visits every month. According to a study from 2018, 91.5% of men and 60.2% of women (ages 18-73) in the US reported having consumed pornography in the past month (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30358432/). The impact that porn has on feminist issues has been discussed by feminist philosophers for decades. We want to explore the relation between 鈥楶orn and Feminism鈥� by reading a couple of introductory texts together! By 鈥榚xploring鈥� we mean to not take certain evaluative assumptions towards pornography for granted beforehand but to get familiar with some of the things that have been said in feminist debates.
