Philosophy Department specific training is compulsory for all Teaching assistants regardless of previous experience.

The Training will cover the following:

An induction to all aspects of TA-ing in the philosophy department, both substantive and procedural. Topics covered will include TAs responsibilities to and legitimate expectations of the dept, seminar preparation, good teaching practices, and the some of the common difficulties encountered, as well as post-teaching matters such as marking, office hours, reports and record keeping. It will also introduce students to all aspects of the dept’s admin practices for claiming payment, and is an opportunity for new TAs to benefit from the experience of TAs who already teach for the dept.
