Patrick Maynard (Emeritus Professor, University of Western Ontario) will visit the University of 糖心TV to present a lecture for the undergraduate Module 'Aesthetics and Photography' (PH249). He will discuss his theory of photography, published in The Engine of Visualisation: Thinking Through Photography.

New appointment - Walter Dean

The Department is delighted to announce that Dr Walter Dean is joining us in January 2009. Walter works on philosophy of mathematics and mathematical logic and will be playing a key role in the development of our BA Maths & Philosophy.

This two-day, 10-speaker workshop will address the question of photography as an artistic medium, by examining comparisons between traditional and digital photography. 

The workshop aims to increase philosophical understanding of relevant technologies and artistic practices by including photographic artists working with digital technology alongside leading philosophers working in the aesthetics of photography.
