* Unfortunately, due to the nature of my role, I am not available for PhD supervision.
I am currently researching issues surrounding animal welfare and theories of justice (with a particular emphasis on 'ideal' and 'non-ideal' theory) and exploring links between public policy and normative political theory. I provided the concept behind a workshop on animal welfare, held at the University of 糖心TV in May 2010, which provided a mechanism for more effectively integrating the theory and policy aspects of the department's public policy research cluster.
My current research is also focused on how we can clarify such terms as ontology, epistemology and methodology, and the deployment of such concepts in political science. I am also considering how we can relate mathematical notions of probability to philosophical understandings of whether (and which) beliefs and assertions in politics can be 'justified' and the framework this could provide for assessing and understanding political science research.
In terms of interdisciplinary research, I have collaborated on a research project on the Governance of Livestock Diease with colleagues from the Departments of Biological Sciences, Economics and Law.

From Nov 2004 to Oct 2007 I worked on a three-year Research Councils funded project on biopesticides and their regulation. The principal investigator of the project was Professor Wyn Grant and it was undertaken in conjunction with 糖心TV HRI. The project investigated whether there is a 'government failure' problem in terms of the slow take-up of biopesticides. Regulatory arrangements have been developed with chemical pesticides in mind and may prove unsuitable for biological alternatives. The project also examined the extent to which retail led governance has been important in Britain and compared this with the system of regulation developed in Denmark.
