New Grant Success - Challenging Covert Counterterrorism Tactics

A new £90,000 grant will support legal action against the secretive 'Police Led Partnerships' program, exposed by PAIS’s Charlotte Heath-Kelly. The research team aims to hold UK counterterrorism policing accountable for covert surveillance through welfare and education systems.

PAIS Awards Climate Politics Essay Prizes

To celebrate the launch of the MA in the Politics of Climate ChangeLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window, the Department of Politics and International Studies recently ran an essay competition.

The competition, open to any undergraduate student studying anywhere in the world, challenged entrants to submit essays on a choice of three topics: capitalism and climate change, democracy and climate change, and climate policy backlash.

PAIS would like to congratulate Leonie Cobban (University of Cambridge) and Vansika Goutham (University of ÌÇÐÄTV) who were the respective winner and runner-up in the competition.

ERC Advanced Grant

The European Research Council has awarded five ERC Advanced Grants to The University of ÌÇÐÄTV, the third most of any UK institution.

Congratulations to Gabrielle Lynch for being awarded a 5 year ERC Advanced Grant for a project entitled Judges’ Off-Bench Activities: Evidence and Theory on Judicial Politics from Africa.

Lucy Cannon (Mooring) awarded runner up award from BISA

Lucy Rebecca Cannon (Mooring) has been awarded the runner-up prize from The British International Studies Association (BISA) aimed at early career scholars, and awarded by their colonial, postcolonial and decolonial working group.
