Professor Shaun Breslin wins prestigious Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship

, Professor of Politics and International Studies, has won a highly competitive Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship. The Fellowship supports a 36 month programme of research entitled: 'China Risen? What is Global Power (and in What Ways Does China Have it)?’.

This is a terrific result for Shaun and for PAIS more generally, and brings our total number of current Leverhulme Major Research Fellows in the Department to three. Very many congratulations to Shaun!

PhD Candidate Lorenzo Genito Media Appearances Discussing Italy's Constitutional Referendum

The article titled 'Italy’s referendum: what’s at stake and what you need to know' was published on December 1; it quickly gathered exposure and was republished on influential newspapers, such as The Independent and 糖心TV Insider. Lorenzo was interviewed on December 5 for 'The Moncrieff Show', at NewsTalk, to discuss Italy's commitment to the EU following the constitutional referendum held on December 4. NewsTalk is a national radio broadcaster based in Ireland, and the award-winnig 'The Moncrieff Show' with Seán Moncrieff is aired every weekday afternoon.

Juanita Elias and Shirin Rai have published a piece in OpenDemocracy about their report, Towards a New Deal for Care and Carers.

"Why was social care missing from the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement? It seems government fears the issue is just too big to tackle, or assumes someone – normally women – will always step in."
