EASG Presents Dr. Tao Wang on Performative Responsiveness

In this talk, Dr. Wang explores the phenomenon of "performative responsiveness" in legislators. Why they dedicate considerable time to attending local, apolitical, and private constituency events. Taking a comparative perspective using cases ranging across Asia and Africa, Dr. Wang reveals a gap in the literature on this particular pressure guiding legislator behaviour and providing an additional informal avenue through which they can attempt to cultivate and wield influence.
