About the QS World University Rankings

The QS World University Rankings, produced annually by global higher education analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds, are among the most widely used and influential university ranking systems in the world. They evaluate institutions using both objective data and international reputation surveys, helping students, policymakers, and universities benchmark performance globally.

QS rankings draw on a series of key indicators, including:

  • Academic Reputation, based on a global survey of academics, representing the most influential performance metric.
  • Citations per Faculty, which measures research quality and impact.
  • Employer Reputation, evaluating how well institutions prepare graduates for the workforce.
  • Faculty–Student Ratio, highlighting teaching capacity and student support.
  • Global Engagement indicators, such as international faculty and student ratios and international research networks.
  • Newer indicators, such as Sustainability and Employment Outcomes, which reflect universities’ long‑term societal impact and graduate success.

These carefully calibrated metrics help ensure that universities are compared across research excellence, quality of teaching, global mobility, and industry relevance—making QS rankings a key resource for prospective students worldwide.
