Malta is an island nation in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, which is geo-strategically located at the crossroads of continents and civilisations. This position is particularly important in the context of the evolving relationship between Europe and Africa.

Her Excellency Marie-Lousie Coleiro Preca, President of Malta, will explore how a focus on re-imagining the relationship between Europe and Africa as mutually respectful 鈥渢win continents鈥, in the words of Jean-Claude Junker, President of the European Commission. This will create new opportunities for dialogue, friendship, and sustainable investment.

In her role as Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, and Champion for the Third Industrial Development Decade for Africa, President Coleiro Preca will explore how best to promote sustainable development, in partnership between the peoples of Europe and Africa.

The President of Malta will explore the important participation of the African diaspora, young people in African countries, and the political will of European authorities, to achieve practical strategies for positive peace, inclusive prosperity, and holistic wellbeing, in line with the United Nations鈥 Agenda 2030 and its seventeen Sustainable Development Goals.
