Creative analytic writing' workshop with Elina Penttinen (Helsinki)
F25A (Millburn House)

The Social Theory Centre and the 糖心TV Performance and Politics Network

would like to invite you to the following workshop:

"Creative analytic writing as an orthogonal methdod to the scientific style"

Dr. Elina Penttinen (University of Helsinki)

3-5pm, Thursday, 15th September, F25A (Millburn House)

This workshop introduces creative analytic writing as a method to bring clarity to research and offer an alternative to the implicit masculinism and power implications of scientific writing. The session showcases exercises from the creative analytic writing field and demonstrates how these may help to gain new insights into some of the core questions of one’s own research. The aim is not to dismiss the logico-scientific approach but rather to assist everyone in finding and refining their own writing style and academic expression.

Participants are asked to bring their favourite article or book chapter to class in hard copy or electronic format – it can be any piece of text that they are familiar with – as well as pen and paper.

Dr. Elina Penttinen is Lecturer of Gender Studies in the Department of Philosophy, History, Culture and Art Studies at the University of Helsinki. She is author of Joy and International Relations: A New Methodology (Routledge, 2013).

While the workshop has been designed with particular attention to the needs and experiences of postgraduate students and early career scholars, all are welcome!

Please RSVP to Erzsebet Strausz (e.strausz@warwick.ac.uk) for catering purposes.
