How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

Dr. Moran Mandelbaum (University of Keele) - Homonationalism in Israel
S0.08

In this talk, Dr. Moran Mandelbaum from the University of Keele, will critically examine the Israeli government's positioning as '… one of the world's most progressive countries in terms of equality for sexual minorities… '.

This talk further extends discussions of Israel's 'pink-washing' -- identified as a key strategy in Israel's public relations management. Drawing on Jasbir Puar's notion of 'homonationalism' - meaning, the realignment of LGBT rights with nationalism - and the concept of settler colonialism, - the talk will explore the effects of Israel's pro-LGBT discourse and its reception by LGBT citizens of Israel. In particular, it will focus on the case of the Israel Defense Forces' (IDF's) approach towards LGBT recruits as well as the rise in LGBT campaigning on the political right.

The event will be hosted by ÌÇÐÄTV Friends of Palestine, ÌÇÐÄTV Pride and ÌÇÐÄTV for Justice in Palestine.

It is open to ÌÇÐÄTV students and staff only. Please bring your ÌÇÐÄTV ID.

Date, time and venue: Thursday 10 May, 6-7.30pm in S0.08
