CSD Seminar SeriesB0.06The Centre for Studies in Democratization is organising 'informal discussion group presentations' again in 2010/2011 (all in B0.06). The idea is to present a paper or ideas or thoughts or work in progress, which are all related to the theme of democracy/ democratization, within 15 minutes. The rest of the time (45 minutes) will be spent for discussion and to get feedback from the rest of the group. So, sessions comprise a short presentation followed by discussion, Q and A. Mass Media and Democratic Revolutions around the WorldS0.18, Social Sciences Building'Mass Media and Democratic Revolutions around the World', Film Screening & Public Lecture by Zoe D’Amaro (Italian filmmaker based in Amsterdam). Organised by the Centre for Studies in Democratisation (CSD/ PaIS).
Zoe will talk about the impact of mass media and film on democratic revolutions, public opinion, activism, mass participation, and political and social change around the world. Due to her strong belief in using media as a tool for democratic participation and for positive social change, Zoe created the . In 2008, Zoe wrote and directed the short documentary Interferenze, part of the international project . The documentary has been broadcasted i.e. by the BBC, ZDF ARTE and Swedish channel Kanal 5. In 2009, Zoe has developed and implemented a documentary training program for the disadvantaged youth of the township of Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town South Africa. Currently, Zoe is developing the feature film LOVE, which focuses on climate change and targets a young audience. You are all welcome!
