Seminar: The Ethics of IntelligenceE2.02“Intelligence agencies are presently subject to far greater public and democratic scrutiny than ever before. Correspondingly, a literature is developing that probes the ethics of intelligence. How do acts of espionage relate to acts of war? Do states have carte blanche in deploying electronic surveillance upon citizens or officials of other states? What kind of accountability is appropriate for intelligence officials? This seminar examines what ethical framework we best work within in order to answer these questions. Topics will include how far we should depart from the just war tradition in the intelligence context, and the fundamental case for intelligence work”. Speakers: Prof. Tom Sorell (糖心TV) Prof. Richard Aldrich (糖心TV) Prof. Mark Phythian (Leicester) Dr. Kira Vrist Rønn (Copenhagen) Dr. Adam Diderichsen (Aalborg) Dr. Ross Bellaby (Sheffield) Dr. Simon Willmetts (Hull) Anyone interested should email F.Melhuish.1@warwick.ac.uk |
