How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

LAWN/IRS Talk: J. Luis Rodr铆guez, "Orders to Protect Latin America, Humanitarian Intervention, and Constraints on Great Power"
TBC

The book asks why Latin American states, long the champions of nonintervention, helped build the Responsibility to Protect (R2P). This norm could authorize military force in response to humanitarian crises. Drawing on diplomatic records and interviews, it shows how Brazil, Chile, and Mexico shaped R2P鈥檚 terms, making collective responses to atrocities possible while building safeguards against abuse. From these cases, I develop a framework I call 鈥渞epublican ordering,鈥 arguing that weaker states seek rules and institutions that effectively address security challenges and constrain powerful states regardless of their intentions. This challenges accounts of international order that rest on great-power restraint. The argument runs from a century of Latin American diplomatic thought through to today鈥檚 debates over nuclear and autonomous weapons.
