Participatory visual methods in Social Science: A workshop using Lego Serious PlayRooms 1 and 2 PG Hub, Senate House“Participatory visual methods in social science: A workshop using Lego Serious Play” Workshop led by Lauren Leigh Hinthorne (University of Queensland) An exciting research methods workshop on “Participatory visual methods in social science: A workshop using Lego Serious Play”. The workshop will be held by Dr Lauren Leigh Hinthorne from the University of Queensland. Further Details: Might traditional research methods be missing the bigger picture? Could visual techniques help to elicit different, more nuanced information than standard survey and interview tools? What can Lego bricks contribute to local problem solving? This workshop will critically explore questions of power and engagement as they pertain to research method, paying particular attention to the potential of innovative, visual techniques. Following a brief presentation, participants will take part in a facilitated Lego Serious Play experience. Dr. Lauren Leigh Hinthorne is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Centre for Communication and Social Change, The University of Queensland. Her current research examines the theory, practice and analysis of visual research (i.e. research that makes use of and/or produces visual material as an integral part of the research process). Much of her work is located in a public policy or international development context, and negotiates complex notions of power, identity, perception and expertise.
