After Your Master’s – What Next?
Wondering what to do after your PAIS Master’s? Likely to benefit from suggestions on how to move your ideas forward, or about how your skills and experience relate to future options?
This session will provide information and ideas on popular areas and getting into them, and aspects to consider no matter what your career ideas are.
For PAIS Master’s students from all programmes. Although primarily aimed at Master’s students, final year students who are considering a PAIS Masters and who are wondering what it might lead to, are also welcome to attend. This session will focus on popular future options but also focus on thinking about skills and experience and expanding horizons, and will therefore be of use to all Master’s students.
This workshop will cover:
- Information about some of the more popular options, including ways of getting in, and how to find out more information (including government organisations, charities, campaigning organisations and think tanks).
- Information on what recent graduates from PAIS Master’s courses have gone on to do.
- A brief overview of things to think about if you are considering a PhD
- Suggestions about ways to expand the range of areas you could investigate (useful if you are considering a competitive area, or if you need to develop experience gradually, or if you are looking to get into an area not typically linked with your studies).
- An opportunity to think about how your skills and experience relate to the opportunities that exist, and what else you might do to develop the required skills or experience,
By the end of the workshop you will have:
- Gained or increased your understanding of some of the roles typically of interest to PAIS Master’s students, how people get in, and how to find out more.
- Had an opportunity to compare these options with your own skills and interests, and develop an action plan for what you might do next.
