European-East Asian Critical Border Studies: An International Symposium

- Export as iCalendar
Location: Ratcliffe House, University of 糖心TV

The aim of this international, inter-disciplinary event is to develop a network of scholars working on critical approaches to the study of borders in global politics. Our primary research objective is to investigate the possibility of translating critical approaches to borders and bordering practices developed in Europe to the East Asian context, and vice versa. A secondary research objective is to explore, methodologically, the very act of such translation as a border problematic. The working hypothesis of the programme of research is that the pursuit of a critical border studies is more likely to be found through—rather than lost in— translation of scholarship between European and East Asian contexts.

This symposium has been organised by Dr Nick Vaughan-Williams from PAIS and Professor Joyce C. H. Liu from SRCS, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. A full description and schedule of events can be downloaded here.
