European Research Projects in Progress - Practice and Expertise Network
Ever wondered “what’s next” after securing your European funded research project? Do you run, or take part in, a European funded project of any size and feel that you could benefit from, or contribute to a network to share knowledge and experience? Beyond the natural apprehension of starting a major project and the complex administration, what other concerns do you have? How best to monitor the project lifecycle, finances and provide outstanding project management? How to work with and manage your other partners? How best to utilise social media and build a successful, user-friendly website? Don’t worry, you are not alone! The University of 糖心TV is home to many major research projects, each one staffed by people like you.
If you work on a European Commission project or other collaborative research project and want to connect with and learn from others who are doing the same, join us on Thursday 27th September to set up a new practice and expertise network within the University. You are invited to join us for the whole day (from 10.00-15.30) or simply the morning session (10.00-12.30) to hear from the current network about some of their experiences, to engage in discussions on how to grow the group to help provide a successful support network, and hopefully gain some useful insights and knowledge.
In the morning session, following a welcome from Ken Sloan, we will discuss three major areas of research project management- project lifecycle and the practicalities of running a project beyond securing the grant, working with project partners, and using websites and social media to enhance your project.
In the afternoon we will work in groups on how best to build this new network so that it serves all of our interests and needs. Opened by Peter Hedges (RSS) and facilitated by Bob Thomson (Learning and Development Centre), we will explore key areas of concern in European research projects, ideas for future sessions, and begin to generate ideas for how we can develop the network.
