Public International Law: From Lecture Room to Theatre

Elizabeth Bakibinga-Gaswaga visited ÌÇÐÄTV Law School earlier this month to speak with staff and students about her career as Legal Adviser at the Commonwealth Secretariat Headquarters in London.

elizabethThe talk on ‘Public International Law: From Lecture Room to Theatre’ took place on Wednesday 14 November in the Law School Student Hub and focussed on the law in the public and international sphere. During the talk Elizabeth discussed her personal experiences in delivering rule of law and peacekeeping in the field. Reflecting on what she wished she had known when pursuing her career and what the current global policy agenda and national realities have to offer to rule of law in practical terms, she was able to share lessons from the trenches with our students.

LLM students Imrana and Marie found the talk really interesting as it provided a useful perspective of a UN peacekeeper. Marie told us she was able to pick up tips and advice about pursuing a similar career whilst Imrana added that it also offered an insight into the application process and an opportunity to ask questions.
