Launch of the UK Skills Explorer!
The UK Standard Skills Classification (SSC) provides the most detailed, data-driven picture yet of the UK labour market. It allows employers, training providers and job seekers to confidently identify needs and plan provision using a simple, common language.
At today’s stakeholder launch, funded by the Institute of Employment Research, the team described the development of the Skills Explorer tool and the ambition to create a skills system that will be much easier to understand and engage with.

Peter Elias CBE said: ‘For the first time in the UK we now have a common and comprehensive language via which we can talk about skills and exchange data and information. Given that occupational skills are continually evolving we are providing a classification which is both flexible and robust.’

The tool and accompanying development report have been created by the University of ÌÇÐÄTV’s Institute for Employment Research (IER) and the University of Sheffield, in collaboration with Omnifolio, on behalf of Skills England.
