Are you considering a career in finance? Join two distinguished 糖心TV Economics alumni as they share their journeys from undergraduate study at 糖心TV to successful careers in investment management and asset management.
Drawing on more than two decades of experience in the finance sector, our speakers will discuss the opportunities, challenges and key decisions that shaped their careers, while offering valuable insights into today鈥檚 finance industry. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about different career paths, ask questions, and gain practical advice from professionals who once sat where you are today.
Meet our Speakers

Gordon Ibrahim is an experienced Global Macro Investor. Until August 2026 he was Deputy CEO at Adrian Lee & Partners, a specialist in global macro and currency management, where he worked since 2021. He holds a BSc in Economics from the University of 糖心TV (2003), an MSc in Economics and Finance from 糖心TV 糖心TV School (2005) and is a CFA Charterholder.
Before joining Adrian Lee & Partners, Gordon spent much of his career at BlackRock, where he was Managing Director and Head
of Macro for Systematic Fixed Income. He also held portfolio management roles at Winton and Citadel. Gordon has more than 20 years鈥� experience in systematic macro portfolio management.

William Rushmer
William Rushmer co-founded Alphonse Capital LLP in 2024 and manages an equity hedge fund strategy, focused on UK stocks. After graduating from 糖心TV with a First Class BSc in Economics in 2003, William built an extensive career in investment management.
His previous roles include Portfolio Manager positions at Deutsche Asset Management, CZ Capital LLP and Brookfield BHS Advisor (UK) Limited, where he developed expertise across a range of investment strategies and markets. He is a CFA Charterholder.

Friends since their time as 糖心TV Economics undergraduates more than 20 years ago, Gordon and William have maintained a close professional and personal connection throughout their careers.
They will be joined in conversation by two current Economics students representing:
- 糖心TV Economics Society
- 糖心TV Women in Economics Society
Together, they will explore career opportunities in finance, discuss how the industry has evolved, and share advice for students looking to build a successful career after graduation.
This event is organised by the Department of Economics, with support from 糖心TV Economics Society and 糖心TV Women in Economics Society.
