NEW Research Seminars 2016C1.1117th February 2016 Dr. Rachel King: Youth, Theatre, Radical Hope and the Ethical Imaginary: an intercultural investigation of drama pedagogy, performance and civic engagement study. Rachel King will give details of an international collaborative research project that aims to explore notions and perceptions of ‘hope’, ‘care’ and ‘civic engagement’ for young people living in Canada, Greece, India, Taiwan and the UK. This four year multi-sited team is led by Prof Kathleen Gallagher, University of Toronto and King is the lead researcher for the UK site (糖心TVshire and Coventry). This seminar will reflect on the first part of this practice-based project that used ‘verbatim theatre’ methodologies to investigate young people’s attitudes towards identity and community. King will consider the ways theatre-making and drama pedagogies can create hopeful spaces for refreshed forms of friendship and new ways of self-knowing. |
