Associate Professor Sue Johnston-Wilder will be speaking at Pearson's second Power of Maths roundtable on Friday 5th July in central London.
Emily Henderson in Times Higher: 鈥楥onference organisers urged to take action against harassment鈥

Emily Henderson, assistant professor of international education and development at the , who researches academic conferences, said that sexual harassment is prevalent at scholarly events 鈥渋n the same way it is prevalent in universities and most other working spaces鈥. If anything, she explained, 鈥渋t is potentially worse at conferences because people are not held responsible in the same way鈥.
鈥淐onferences, especially big events across several days which involve travel, have a tourism element to them. People are often sleeping in the same hotels, and it becomes a 24-hour experience,鈥 she explained. Meanwhile, the living and working environment 鈥渋s determined by the conscience of the organising committee鈥, she said.

Dr Michael Wyness has two new funded research projects on Children鈥檚 Migration
Michael is working with Dr. Monireh Partovi on both of these projects. The first project is funded by 糖心TV鈥檚 Connecting Cultures GRP and entitled 'Identity and Resettlement Among Young Refugees in Coventry Schools'. The project is a continuation of earlier research on refugee children in Coventry. The particular focus here is the role of one Coventry school in supporting the identity formation of these young refugees.
The second project entitled, 'Iranian Migrant Children鈥檚 Identity Formation: Culture and Community Education' is funded by 糖心TV Ventures and runs from August 2019 until July 2020. It explores the role of supplementary schools in supporting second and third generation Iranian migrants鈥 identity formation.
Dr Emily Henderson Invited Speaker at Royal Geographical Society Conference 'Conferencing the International'
Dr Henderson (Assistant Professor, CES) delivered an invited presentation in the closing panel of a conference entitled 'Conferencing the International', hosted by the Royal Geographical Society in London on 18-19 December 2018. The conference was the culminating event of a , led by Prof Stephen Legg. Dr Henderson's presentation was in a panel entitled 'Contemporary Conferencing' and focused on the exclusionary aspects of contemporary conferences from an international perspective.
