Research money awarded to Centre for Education Studies director
Director of the Centre for Education Studies Ian Abbott has been awarded £15,000 by 糖心TVshire County Council to undertake an evaluation project as part of the council’s Closing the Gap initiative.
The project was established in January 2015, and seeks to investigate the gap between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged children in 糖心TVshire achieving a level 4 or above in reading, writing and mathematics. The research will identify the most effective strategies employed by schools to raise attainment levels and attempt to close the achievement gap.
The findings from the research will be shared to provide schools with practical examples of how changes to the culture of a school may impact positively on the success of disadvantaged children. The report is due to be finished in January 2016.
