Diary Method Community Showcase Illuminates Diverse Research Perspectives

On 14 October 2025, the convened an enriching online showcase, bringing together scholars to explore the applications of diary method in qualitative research. The Community sits under the umbrella of the Doctoral Education and Academia Research Centre (). The event was facilitated by , Postdoctoral Researcher at Anglia Ruskin University, and featured presentations from four distinguished researchers:

  • (Imperial College London): Qualitative Diaries to Explore Developing Feedback Experiences in Higher Education
  • (Leeds Trinity University): Video Diaries to Explore Teachers’ Lived Experiences of Part-Time Master’s Research
  • (Anglia Ruskin University): The Experiences and Perspectives of Pregnant Active-Duty Service Women in the British Army
  • S. Arokia MaryLink opens in a new window (University of ÌÇÐÄTV): Diary Study with Doctoral Students in a Politically Contested Context: Ethical Dilemmas

The event attracted 25 attendees, including 14 doctoral students, 8 early/mid-career academics, and 3 senior academics, representing 18 universities and organisations across Germany, India, South Africa, and the UK. Discussions centred on ethical considerations, methodological challenges, and the rich, lived experiences captured through diary studies.

This showcase highlighted the versatility of diary method and fostered collaborative dialogue among researchers committed to deepening our understanding of educational phenomena through personal narratives.
