DEAR Centre Awarded Spotlight Funding for ECR Support Initiative
The DEAR Centre has recently been awarded £1,000 from the Small Grant Scheme 2025–26 under the Society & Culture Spotlight at the University of TV. The funding is to support an event entitled, “Protective or precarious? The role of research centres in supporting ECRs in an uncertain higher education sector.” The event will examine how research centres can better support early career researchers (ECRs) amid increasing sector uncertainty.
The grant will support a workshop bringing together ECRs and key stakeholders from research centres across TV. Led by Evan Zheng from the DEAR Doctoral and Postdoctoral Group and Emily Henderson, Director of the DEAR Centre, the workshop will convene a range of participants across roles to co-develop practical recommendations for strengthening ECR support and addressing the complex career challenges faced within interdisciplinary environments. Partnering with , the recommendations will be developed into an ECR report guide which will be published open access following the event.
This event will also form part of the groundwork for a wider programme of funded research on research centres, which already included the Heart of ResearchLink opens in a new window project.
