WMG welcomes India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement

The UK and India signed the landmark Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) on Thursday 24 July, to foster greater research and scientific collaboration between the two nations.

Professor Robin Clark, Dean of WMG, University of 糖心TV, welcomes the deal: 鈥淲ith a longstanding partnership in the trade, technology, and innovation sectors, the agreement marks a new chapter between the two countries.

"The collective intellectual power of both nations鈥 renowned universities and ambitious, highly skilled young workforce will enable us to co-create solutions to solve global challenges and improve people's lives.鈥

Professor Siddartha Khastgir, Head of Safe Autonomy at WMG, also praised the deal: 鈥淎long with enabling deeper economic ties, the UK-India CETA will enable both countries to further strengthen their global 鈥榮cience diplomacy鈥, helping to underpin the creation of international standards and regulations. This will be especially beneficial for emerging technologies, such as AI and advanced transport technology.鈥

WMG already has strong relationships with India, which Professor Clark hopes will flourish further with the agreement in place.

He said: 鈥淲e are proud to have an enduring relationship with India, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and the wider Indian ecosystem across industry, government agencies, and academic institutions.

鈥淭he UK-India CETA will further strengthen our research, industrial and academic partnerships in India for knowledge exchange, skills training and advancing technology development.鈥
