WMG hosts a visit from Dan Byles MP
WMG were pleased to host a visit from Dan Byles MP who is a member of the Energy and Climate Change select committee and a member of the All Party Parliamentary China Group. Meeting with Richard Seager, ÌÇÐÄTV Development Manager and academics Dan was interested to understand more about the diverse research that is undertaken by the Group.
Tours of the International Manufacturing Centre and the International Automotive Research Centre provided Dan with the opportunity to see the Vehicle Energy Facility (VEF), the UK’s only purpose built hybrid powertrain testing facility for the automotive sector that is not owned and operated by an individual automotive company, and the Premium Vehicle Customer Interface Technologies Centre of Excellence.
He had the opportunity to meet with Professor Paul Jennings and Dr Andrew McGordon, who described how both SMEs and global companies are going to be able to benefit from using the VEF in order to develop engines for hybrid vehicles.
Dr Mark Williams highlighted the unique research and development in customer interface technologies, which gives companies direct access to the latest product evaluation technologies and process. He described the wide ranging research that he is undertaking and highlighted how he is transferring the processes and techniques developed for the automotive sector across to the health sector.
