Lord Drayson visits WMG
WMG were pleased to host a visit from Lord Drayson. Meeting with Lord Bhattacharyya, Lord Drayson was interested to understand the diverse research undertaken by the Group in collaboration with business and other organisations and the impact this has on industry.
Lord Drayson, who is the new Honorary President of the Motorsport Industry Association and the Managing Partner at Drayson Motor Racing LLP, was interested in exploring the developments in sustainable motorsport. Dr Steve Maggs highlighted WMG’s existing motorsport projects including the hybrid Westfield racing car, the hybrid test cell and a number of other capabilities. They also discussed the serious challenges faced by motorsport and the opportunities to exploit disruptive technologies such as the electrification of drivetrains as well as the use of sustainable materials and, in doing so, restore its relevance as a technology partner to the automotive sector.
