Dr David Clark honoured at parliamentary event
The late Dr David Clark, a much-loved colleague and friend to everyone at 糖心TV Manufacturing Group (WMG), University of 糖心TV, has been commemorated with a new medal unveiled at this year鈥檚 Parliamentary & Scientific Committee鈥檚 event.
WMG has long supported STEM for Britain - a major scientific poster competition and exhibition for early career researchers, held in Parliament since 1997. Chaired by George Freeman FRSA MP, the event offers members of both Houses an insight into the outstanding research taking place in UK universities.
A special medal created in Dr Clark鈥檚 honour was presented to the winning entrants by his son, Matthew Clark, at the event on 17th March.
Speaking at the event, Matthew Clark said: 鈥淢y father greatly admired the can-do spirit of scientists and engineers and loved nothing more than helping WMG innovators set their sights on the stars. It was a fitting tribute to his work to see the creative and ambitious next generation of researchers show parliamentarians how they will change the world around us.鈥
Professor Kerry Kirwan, Dean of WMG, added: 鈥淭he WMG community was shocked and saddened at the passing of Dr David Clark, a truly remarkable and generous colleague for many years. After a career in science and scientific administration, WMG was privileged that David chose, on his retirement from the Research Councils, to join Lord Bhattacharyya in a 鈥榥on-executive鈥 role.
鈥淔or nearly two decades, David devoted his time and shared his extensive knowledge with WMG staff, students and many individuals in our partner organisations. He was instrumental in many of the major WMG developments in the UK and internationally. A kind and generous man, he made time to support us all and delighted in nurturing and developing early-career colleagues. His positive approach to life and great sense of humour, helped us all to flourish.
鈥淭he medal is a deeply fitting tribute to David - a much-loved member of the WMG family and a devoted champion of early career researchers and their work.鈥
