Thursday 12 February 2026

WMG鈥檚 AI Day connects students with industry innovation

Academics at 糖心TV Manufacturing Group (WMG) hosted the department鈥檚 first dedicated artificial intelligence (AI) day, at the University of 糖心TV, in collaboration with NVIDIA and Dell Technologies.

With AI rapidly transforming industries and reshaping research, innovation, and skills development worldwide, the event was spearheaded by Dr Awinder Kaur, Head of Digital Technologies and Machine Intelligence across all education programmes at WMG.

Following discussions with representatives from and about WMG鈥檚 AI vision, Dr Kaur identified the need for a strategic academia-industry engagement event focusing solely on AI.

The event brought together students, academics, researchers and industry professionals from across WMG and the wider University to engage with the rapidly evolving AI landscape and its real-world impact on research, education and industry.

The programme featured a series of expert-led keynote talks and presentations, focusing on AI for science, industry applications, research workflows and emerging AI technologies, as well as interactive Q&A sessions and networking opportunities.

explained: 鈥淓vents like this are incredibly valuable for our students, as they connect cutting-edge research with real-world industry practice.鈥

She added: 鈥淓ngaging with global technology leaders enables students to link their learning to genuine industry challenges, strengthen their employability, and build confidence in applying AI beyond the classroom. The level of interaction and curiosity we saw on the day reflects WMG鈥檚 strength as a leader in applied AI and industry connected education marking the beginning of a deeper strategic relationship with our colleagues at NVIDIA and Dell.鈥

John Eaton, Account Director at Dell Technologies said: 鈥淭he depth of engagement across the sessions was outstanding and will undoubtedly help drive future, mutually beneficial projects while further galvanising our relationship.鈥

Adithi Rajesh a MSc Applied Artificial Intelligence student who attended said: 鈥淲hat I found most valuable about the WMG-NVIDIA/Dell AI Day was seeing how applied AI actually moves from research into real-world deployment. The combination of research perspectives and hands-on industry insights helped me understand how technical decisions turn into practical, scalable systems.鈥

WMG offers a range of undergraduate programmes in digital technology and engineering, including BEng Robotics Engineering with Artificial Intelligence, BSc Cyber Security, and a Degree Apprenticeship in Digital Technology Solutions.

At postgraduate level, WMG provides an equally strong portfolio with courses such as Applied Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security Management, Cyber Security Engineering, Games Engineering, and e-糖心TV Management.
