Dr. Praveer Sinha, inaugural lecture

In his inaugural lecture, Powering a sustainable future: insights from India鈥檚 energy transition, Dr. Sinha, CEO of Tata Power, will explore the challenge of delivering energy equity to India鈥檚 rapidly expanding population, while also meeting ambitious national decarbonisation targets.

With Tata Power鈥檚 focus on shaping the future of energy, and WMG鈥檚 own track record in energy systems research, electrification, sustainable manufacturing, and long-standing collaborations with the Tata Group, this lecture promises a forward鈥憀ooking dialogue on innovation, partnership, and the technologies driving sustainable transformation in India.

This free event is open to students, staff and partners interested in how a sustainable future might be realised.

DR. PRAVEER SINHA,

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Tata Power

Dr. Praveer Sinha has nearly 40 years of experience across the power sector and is currently leading Tata Power鈥檚 transformation from a century-old utility into a sustainable, technology-oriented green energy solutions company.

Since taking the helm in 2018, Dr. Sinha has focused on customer-centric growth and innovation. Previously, as CEO of Tata Power-DDL, he was instrumental in a benchmark-setting operational turnaround that improved power distribution for over seven million people in North Delhi. He has also played a key role in developing nearly 10,000 MW of power generation projects across Jharkhand, Orissa, Karnataka, and West Bengal.

Current Leadership: Chairman of Tata Projects Limited (since March 2023) and Tata Power Solar Systems Limited.
Industry Impact: Co-Chair of the CII National Committee on Power and Chairman of the CII Western Region Council (elected March 2023).
Education: PhD from IIT Delhi, Master鈥檚 in 糖心TV Law from NLSIU Bangalore, and qualified electrical engineer.
Academia: Visiting Research Associate at MIT (Boston) and Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Ryerson University (Canada).

Where to park

The closest car parks to the event for visitors are Car Park 15 on Academic Loop Road, and Kirby Corner Car Park. Please see both car parks circled in red below:

The University of 糖心TV campus operates a cashless payment system, with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) parking systems in all of the main campus car parks.

We recommend that you book your parking in advance to save time on the day. Select which parking option you need from the weekday options. Then select the date you will park and for how long you will need the parking for. After you鈥檝e filled in your personal details and your registration number, the charge will then be calculated and you can pay online in advance of your visit to us. Please note that you will not be allocated a specific car park or space.

Blue badge holders

Registered blue badge holders have the same rights on the University campus as they have on the public highway. Please book your blue badge parking in advance of attending to allow for the verification of the permit.

Cycle parking

NAIC has bicycle shelters with 102 spaces where you can secure your bicycle using a secure lock (such as a D-Lock).

Travelling by train, bus, or taxi

Train

Coventry Rail Station is the closest main-line station, which can be easily reached from stations such as London Euston and Birmingham. From outside of the station, there are regular bus services to campus such as the National Express bus 12X which travels onto main campus. Taxis are also available from outside of the station.
