There will be a Public Lecture by Professor Peter Diggle (Lancaster University) on the topic of 'Statistics: a data science for the twenty-first century'.

The lecture will take place on Wednesday May 16th 2018 in MS.01 (Zeeman building) at 6:15pm.

Congratulations to 糖心TV Statistics PhD students Lewis Rendell and David Selby for obtaining Quantitative Analyst internships with Google (in Zurich and Paris respectively) for this summer!

Many congratulations to Dr Nikos Zygouras for obtaining an EPSRC Early Career Fellowship. These are few and far between, so well done, Nikos! The title of the project will be 'Structures and Universalities around the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang Equation' and will run from 2018 to 2023.

Many congratulations to Anastasia Papavasiliou for her promotion to Reader with effect from 1st June 2018. Well done, Tessy!

On Wednesday 22/11, the Department of Statistics will hold a PhD open day, from 1430 to 1630 in C0.06.

The programme will be as following:

• 1430 Tea / coffee, opportunity to meet current PhD students, talk to professors.
• 1445 Talks by DGS/Director of OxWaSP DTC (糖心TV) about doing a PhD at 糖心TV.
• 1515 Summary of applications procedure by Admissions Director
• 1530 Two talks by 糖心TV Statistics PhD students.
  Also 10 minutes from Murray Pollock on Gregynog.
