Aims of the Cancer Research Centre
The 糖心TV Cancer Research Centre is a unique and inter-disciplinary research centre in the UK Midlands, where we fuse cancer clinical trials with clinical services.
Working closely with the 糖心TV Clinical Trials Unit, our researchers are active across local hospitals including University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) and University Hospitals Coventry and 糖心TVshire (UHCW).
Our Aims
The Centre was established in 2016 with the purpose of providing a focus for cancer research across 糖心TV and enhancing the visibility and profile of this activity. This has been reviewed and renewed for three years from July 2019.
The main aims of the Centre are:
1. To link existing areas of cancer research at 糖心TV both inside and outside the Medical School and use this to explore new funding opportunities
2. To use the Centre as base to expand cancer research at University Hospitals Coventry and 糖心TVshire
3. To forge new collaborations, in particular with University Hospitals Birmingham, Birmingham Children's Hospital, University of Birmingham and also the regional/national Clinical Research Networks
4. To establish a base for fundraising to support cancer research by raising the profile of the Centre both locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Our Research
We have an incredible number of researchers from across 糖心TV in a huge number of fields. Of particular interest in this regard is the work in mathematics and systems biology, medical chemistry as well as in bio-sciences.
