Events in MathSys and Complexity Science
This is a calendar page detailing events within the MathSys CDT. It also acts as a booking diary for the Seminar Room D1.07. To book D1.07 please email Sheetal.Sharma@warwick.ac.uk
Please note that your event booking is for D1.07 only. The adjacent common room is a private area for the MathSys Centre that cannot used as part of your booking.
MathSys CDT events have priority for D1.07 room bookings.

Title: Measures of complexity and information erasure
Abstract:
t is still argued how to best quantify complexity and to what end. One prominent measure of complexity (the statistical complexity) has an operational meaning in terms of the amount of resources needed to forecasting a system's behaviour. Another one (the effective measure complexity, aka excess entropy) is a measure of mutual information of the system’s behaviour. We show that the two measures are related through the amount of information which is erased during forecasting. This result provides the information theoretic analysis of complex systems with a statistical mechanics perspective.
