Fundamental Problems in Statistical Physics XII

- Export as iCalendar
Location: Leuven (Belgium)
Dear Colleague,

This is to announce the upcoming international summer school Fundamental Problems in Statistical Physics XII, to be held in Leuven (Belgium) from August 30 till September 12, 2009.

The school stands in the long tradition of previous high profile FPSP schools that started in 1961 in Breukelen, the Netherlands. It is aimed at graduate students and beginning postdocs in statistical physics. We expect to select around 80-100 participants among applicants from all over the world.

Focus themes of the coming school are Soft Matter and Biophysics and current trends in mathematical physics. Also other topical subjects are covered. Lecturers include Leticia Cugliandolo (Paris), Eytan Domany (Weizmann), Erwin Frey (Munich), Yan Fyodorov (Nottingham), Martin van Hecke (Leiden), Joseph Indekeu (Leuven), Christopher Jarzynski (Maryland), Satya Majumdar (Paris), David Mukamel (Weizmann), René van Roij (Utrecht).

It is customary that lecture notes for the participants are produced in advance. The format of the school allows ample time for students to discuss and interact with the speakers and the other participants. All participants are invited to present a poster of their own research.

We strongly encourage your graduate students and postdocs to apply for participation in the school. For more information and application details, see .

Yours sincerely,

G.T. Barkema, E. Carlon, G.M.Schütz
Chairmen
