Events in MathSys and Complexity Science
This is a calendar page detailing events within the MathSys CDT. It also acts as a booking diary for the Seminar Room D1.07. To book D1.07 please email Sheetal.Sharma@warwick.ac.uk
Please note that your event booking is for D1.07 only. The adjacent common room is a private area for the MathSys Centre that cannot used as part of your booking.
MathSys CDT events have priority for D1.07 room bookings.

Title: The role of particle transport and drift wave turbulence in achievingcontrolled nuclear fusion
Abstract:
The extended Hasegawa-Wakatani (EHW) equations generate fully nonlinear self-consistent solutions for coupled density and vorticity, in a plasma with background density gradient and magnetic field strength inhomogeneity. Finite field strength gradient introduces interchange effects and drifts into the framework of drift turbulence through compressibility of the ExB and diamagnetic drifts. We will discuss direct computation of the radial density flux, tracer particle transport and the statistical properties of the turbulent fluctuations that drive radial flux and tracer motion. Simple analytical arguments yield a Fickian relation between average radial plasma flux and the particle difussion coefficient.
