Title: Analytical approaches to network dynamics

Abstract: In this talk I will revisit a number of well-studied problems concerning dynamics on and of networks including epidemics and opinion formation processes. My aim is to identify the overarching properties that have made analytical progress possible. Building on these insights I will show some examples of my recent work where the same principles are applied to solve current problems. Among other results I will present a method to design temporal motifs that have distinct implications for the dynamics on a network regardless of the embedding network structure.
