Title: A mathematical epidemiology tasting menu
Abstract: The risks for becoming ill are a constant source of discussion, and yet arguably we know more about the surface of the Moon than we do about many of the diseases that are likely to kill or harm us. I will discuss why mathematical epidemiology is so complex and a few applications where there is the possibility of making progress.
