Dr Abdul Kalam, President of India (06.2002 – 06.2007), visited WMG on Sunday 21st October to meet staff and students, and to talk on the subject of 'The Future of India's Space Programme'.
WMR was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to give Dr Abdul Kalam a presentation outlining the project, as well as a live demonstration of the MiraSot Evo3 and Evo4 robots.
About Dr Kalam:
Dr Kalam is one of the most distinguished scientists of India with the unique honour of receiving honorary doctorates from 30 universities and institutions. He has been awarded the coveted civilian awards - Padma Bhushan (1981) and Padma Vibhushan (1990) and the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna (1997). He is a recipient of several other awards and Fellows of many professional institutions.
Dr Kalam became the 11th President of India on 25th July 2002 and held the position until 25th July 2007. His focus has been on transforming India into a developed nation by 2020.
